A teenage mum was killed “by mistake” when a gunman shot at her husband and missed.
Sarah Beatriz Porfírio da Silva and her husband were returning home from a friend’s house when the horror unfolded.
They were riding a motorbike in the early hours of Sunday (6 Jul) when a car pulled up and someone from inside the vehicle opened fire.

Sarah, 19, died at the scene, while Samuel Barbosa de Moura managed to run away unscathed.
Sarah’s devastated mother, Patrícia Porfírio, told local media: “He was the target.”
But when asked about the possible motive, she remained silent.

Sarah and Samuel had been together for three years, lived together, and were parents to a one-year-old child.
Patrícia said, “My daughter was full of life and adored her son.”
Sarah had no criminal record and worked as an eyelash technician, as reported by Need To Know.
Samuel, on the other hand, has previous convictions for aggravated theft and handling stolen goods.

The 22-year-old widower has given a statement to the police about the attack in Recife, Brazil.
A 19-year-old man was arrested on Monday (7 Jul) after turning himself in at a police station.
His name has not been released to the media, but he is believed to be the shooter.
Sarah was popular on Instagram, with 12,500 followers.
She was laid to rest in Recife on Monday (7 Jul).
Her mother said, “My heart won’t stop bleeding. Emptiness has taken over. I will love you forever, my daughter.”
