The attack took place in Formosa do Rio Preto, in Brazil’s north-eastern Bahia state.
Police later learned that the suspected attacker was Jonas’s girlfriend.

Officers tracked down Cleidiane Alves Ferreira at her relatives’ home in Barreiras, more than two hours away by car.
When questioned, the 20-year-old allegedly confessed to the killing.
According to police, she said she lashed out after Jonas refused her request to access the messaging app on his phone.
She was placed in custody on Sunday (17 Aug) morning, as reported by Need To Know.

Tributes soon followed.
One woman, Sarah, said: “A person with an incredible heart, a wonderful father to his daughter — they didn’t deserve this.
“Anyone who knows him here in town knows that.”
An investigation is ongoing.
