Miffed festival goers set up camp in the ‘fast lane’ of the M1 after a crash caused standstill traffic for over two hours.

Rhys Smith was making his way back from a long weekend of music when they hit a huge pile up of cars.

The 25-year-old and his pals decided to set up camp on the ‘fast lane’ after there was no sign of movement.

Rhys even spotted a few drivers having a kick about as they waited for the traffic to clear.

The group were driving back from Leeds Festival before hitting the jam just outside of Milton Keynes.

They were heading back to Watford with their long journey coming to a swift halt.

The marketing executive stated when they eventually go through a vehicle was on its roof.

It happened yesterday (24 Aug).

“Decided to set up camp in the fast lane of the M1,” Rhys told Need To Know.

“Lots of people were out their cars sitting on the central reservation.

“Some people were having a kick about.

“I was travelling from Leeds to London after spending the weekend at Leeds Festival.

“There was a crash when we eventually got through.

“We saw a car on its roof and lots of emergency services.

“We saw the air ambulance come in so we knew we’d probably be there for a while not sure how serious it was for the occupants.

“At some points both sides were shut so we went on the oncoming side to take photos.”
