A doctor has tragically died after being thrown from a boat – before the vessel circled back and fatally struck him.
Dr Karl Chen, 56, was killed in the horror accident shortly before 10am on Sunday (24 Aug) in Barnegat Bay, New Jersey, US.
According to New Jersey State Police, the 27ft vessel “struck a large wake”, throwing both men on board into the water.

The boat then looped back and hit Dr Chen, from Princeton, New Jersey, leaving him with fatal injuries.
The second man on board survived with only minor injuries and was rescued by a good Samaritan.

Police say the investigation is ongoing, but no foul play has been indicated, as reported by Need To Know.
Dr Chen, a highly respected physician affiliated with several New Jersey hospitals, was described by friends and patients as both “an amazing doctor” and “a devoted family man”.
Tributes have poured in online.

One mourner wrote: “RIP Karl Chen a Friend, Father, Family man, fellow fisherman and amazing physician. You will never be forgotten.”
Another posted: “Today we lost our fishing buddy and a great person and a good friend Karl Chen in a boating accident.

“May you RIP Karl, you taught me a lot about fishing, you’ll be missed by all that knew you.”
Funeral arrangements have not yet been announced.
