A stunned man found that a mouse he caught in a trap had given birth to five tiny babies.
Jarne De Maeyer had set some up at his home after weeks of food going missing and droppings appearing in his kitchen.
But when he checked one of the humane traps, he found a mother mouse surrounded by a newborn litter.

“I was honestly in shock and didn’t know what to do,” Jarne, 30, told Need To Know.

“It was a scenario I hadn’t expected at all.”
Doctor Jarne explained he had been battling a mouse problem for several weeks, with the rodents raiding cupboards and leaving a terrible smell.
The humane trap he used had been in place for three weeks before finally catching the animal at his home in Brussels, Belgium.
Jarne said: “She’d been in there for 12 hours maximum.”
He was advised to release the mother mouse into the wild.
Sadly, the babies didn’t survive.
