A daredevil is under investigation after trespassing onto an iconic Jesus statue and parachuting off it.
Drone footage shows him leaping from the statue’s right hand towards a lagoon more than 2,300 ft below.
Incredibly, the tour guide who captured the stunning images yesterday (10 Sept) morning did so entirely by chance.

David Moreira Figueiredo told local media, “I was taking my clients to visit Christ the Redeemer when we were caught by surprise.
“One of the security guards said someone was on the statue’s arm. I grabbed my drone immediately to film it.
“At first, we thought it was an official shoot, maybe an advert.
“But when we noticed unusual activity at the entrance, it became clear – an intruder had climbed up without permission.”
Officers were dispatched to the scene in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, but the mystery man had already jumped towards Rodrigo de Freitas Lagoon before they could catch him.
Investigators now say there were not one but two suspects who trespassed and parachuted off the statue, as reported by Need To Know.
“Because the site is protected heritage, Military Police were called, and the Christ the Redeemer Sanctuary reported the case to the 7th Police Precinct as a crime against cultural property belonging to the Archdiocese of Rio de Janeiro,” authorities told local media.
Police are reviewing CCTV footage from the monument in hopes of identifying the suspects.
David wrote on social media: “The line between bravery and danger is razor-thin.”
