A young political commentator has been shot dead while drinking alone in a bar.
Anny Michelle Varela Vallecillo was reportedly enjoying a quiet drink when several gunmen stormed the premises with their weapons raised.
Dressed only in her nightgown, the 27-year-old tried to take refuge in the toilet but was blasted at least 12 times, authorities said.

Anny Michelle, known online as Michell Palma or ‘Pitu’, was a rising political commentator on social media and a prominent local activist.
The killing happened on Friday (3 Oct) in Patuca, Olancho Department, Honduras, as reported by Need To Know.
Local mayor Juan Colindres, of the conservative National Party of Honduras (PN), confirmed her death on social media and praised her campaigning work.
He said: “She was a young activist in our party and participated in campaigns in different parts of the mountainous area.”
Colindres also called for increased security in Patuca, which has seen a rise in violent crime.
Just one day before her alleged murder, Anny Michelle had mourned the loss of a close friend, sharing pictures of them with her 5,500 Facebook followers.
She wrote: “It hurts, little brother.”
Several followers replied in the comments: “Now it’s you.”
Friends and family have paid tribute to her bubbly personality and growing social media presence.
The local community is demanding justice for her death.
Police investigations are ongoing.
The killing comes just a month after conservative commentator Charlie Kirk was allegedly assassinated at a university event in Utah, US, in front of around 3,000 people.
