A surfing influencer has tragically lost her battle with a very rare cancer at just 33.

Kim Flint “passed away peacefully” on Monday (3 Nov) morning, her loved ones confirmed.

She had been diagnosed with adrenal cortical carcinoma in September 2022.

It is a rare and aggressive cancer that forms in the outer layer of the adrenal glands, which sit above the kidneys.

Because symptoms are often vague, the disease is usually only detected at an advanced stage.

Flint began chemotherapy and, at first, things looked hopeful.

The treatment worked and, around a year after her diagnosis, she joyfully announced: “No new cancer cells found.”

But the cancer later returned.

During a routine check-up in spring 2024, doctors discovered it had spread to her lungs, spine, and diaphragm.

She went back into treatment and, despite the grim prognosis, stayed remarkably optimistic. In an interview in September, she said: “I’m not afraid of death. I don’t even believe that I’m going to die.”

On 21 October, she marked her 33rd birthday in a hospital in Heidelberg, Germany, as reported by Need To Know.

Just two days later (23 Oct), she posted: “Hope. A lifeline. A light on the horizon. We’ve found a new, very promising therapy for me… Fingers crossed.”

Her husband, Jan Henrik, never left her side. He proposed in October 2024, and the couple married the following June.

In July, she wrote: “Three weeks ago, just in between radiation and chemo, we celebrated our love so carelessly and full of joy!

“I love looking at our wedding photos. Love is simply the answer to everything, and I’m the luckiest to have my superhero of a husband.”

Flint, a gifted surfer from Hamburg and the niece of 65-year-old film star Katja Flint, had amassed hundreds of thousands of Instagram followers.

She shared watersports content alongside raw, honest updates about her cancer battle.

One follower wrote: “Kim was an angel on earth. Her positivity and fighting spirit will inspire all of us until it’s our turn to rise to heaven. Sending so much strength and love to her loved ones.”
