A tearaway driver was rammed by desperate police in a last-ditch effort to stop him joining a motorway the wrong way.

Dramatic footage shows a police car hitting his van to stop it from entering the slipway.

The officers were described as risking their own lives to protect others.

Jake Robertson was at the wheel of the white van.

It happened at a junction of the M4 in Slough, Berkshire.

The hair-raising video showed the motor recklessly speeding through red traffic lights and narrowly avoiding other cars.

Then, taking a roundabout at high speed and attempting a left turn onto the wrong slipway.

The video ended after police drove into the van to prevent a possible catastrophe.

Robertson, 20, has now admitted driving offences and will spend Christmas behind bars, as reported by Need To Know.

A Thames Valley Police spokesperson said: “This is Jake Robertson, 20, from Farnborough Road, who attempted one of the most dangerous acts on our roads.

“Our officers faced this threat head-on, risking their own lives to protect the public.

“Robertson pleaded guilty at Reading Crown Court to dangerous driving, driving while disqualified, having no insurance, and failing to stop for police.

“He was charged, remanded, and now he will spend Christmas behind bars.

“He’s banned from driving for five years and seven months.

“This is the reality of the dangers our officers confront every day.

“Their courage keeps our roads and you safe.”
