A dog-carrying driver who smashed his powerful motor into another car was found to be an incredible four times over the drink drive limit.

Luckily, no one was injured in the collision when the BMW hit another car.

But the first police officer on scene could smell alcohol on the breath of the lairy driver.

A video showed the moment the officer approached the man who had a small dog in his arms.

He pointed at the officer and appeared to order him to keep an eye on his car and started to walk away.

The officer then told the driver not to walk off as he had been involved in a collision, as reported by Need To Know.

The driver appeared to resist but the officer restrained him and said, ‘Don’t start being silly’.

He added: “You don’t start making threats – I can smell alcohol on your breath.”

The man responded: “I’m not going to lie I’ve been drinking yes – but I did stop for the collision.”

The video then showed the driver being breathalysed in the back of a police car.

Bizarrely, the man told the officer, ‘don’t let me lose my watch and don’t let me lose my dog’.

And then started laughing when told his alcohol level was 153 micrograms of alcohol.

It happened in Somercotes, near Alfredton, Derbyshire on 18 December.

A Derbyshire Police spokesperson said: “A BMW driver who was involved in a two-car collision near Alfreton was found to be more than four times the drink-drive limit.

“The 34-year-old had crashed his high-powered car into the back of another vehicle in Nottingham Road, Somercotes, on the evening of December 18.

“Once his dog was safely secured, the man gave an evidential breath test and blew 153 micrograms of alcohol in 100ml of breath.

“The legal limit is 35.

“He was arrested and charged, and will appear in court at a later date.”

“We’re releasing this footage to remind people of the very real dangers of driving under the influence of drink or drugs.

They then issued a general warning, adding: “If you’re arrested, you face losing your licence and your livelihood.

“Not to mention a potential prison sentence.

“But the consequences can be so much worse than that.

“You could lose your life, or kill someone else.

“It’s simply not worth the risk.”
