A suspected drink-driver crashed into the back of a rubbish truck and killed a refuse worker in front of her boyfriend.
The 23-year-old sanitation worker, surnamed Chen, was killed on the spot.
Footage showed the victim walking to the back of the stationary dustcart just as the out-of-control driver approached at speed.
His Mercedes rammed into the back of the refuse vehicle, apparently crushing the victim who was standing between both vehicles.
Her partner, also a refuse worker, was behind the wheel of the dustcart at the time and witnessed her shocking death.
The Mercedes driver, a 48-year-old man surnamed Zheng, was trapped in his car after allegedly ramming the bin lorry in Tainan, Taiwan, yesterday (16 Dec) morning.
After firefighters cut him free from the wreckage, he allegedly claimed he wasn’t driving at the time of the crash.
Zheng, who had reportedly been out drinking with friends all night, said he hired a designated driver in front of a crowd of onlookers, including the victim’s partner.
The group grew angry at his alleged lie and tried to lynch him, according to reports.
The police had to intervene to prevent the situation from escalating, as reported by Need To Know.
Witnesses said the suspect appeared intoxicated and had slurred speech during his rescue.
He was later found to be over the limit and placed under arrest, according to reports.
Locals discovered he owns a well-known crispy duck restaurant in Anping.

Many residents flooded the restaurant’s social media pages with angry comments and 1-star reviews, according to reports.
The reaction prompted the closure of the establishment’s Facebook page, among others.
The victim had only been working for the Tainan City Environmental Protection Bureau for three months before her death.
Her boyfriend, who works for the same bureau, had recommended her for the job.
He reportedly broke down in tears in the street after witnessing her death.
The investigation into the fatal crash continues.
