It happened on Haytor, Dartmoor, Devon, on Sunday, (11 Jan).
It is the highest point on the famous moor, as reported by Need To Know.
A spokesperson for Dartmoor Search and Rescue Team said: “We were called at 5pm to assist a female walker who had fallen and sustained a suspected lower leg fracture on the upper slopes of Haytor Rocks.
“As it was dark, a gale blowing and raining heavily the team were quickly mobilised.
“First on scene was an BASICS Devon doctor.
“A small foot team was initially deployed to confirm the doctor and casualty’s location and provide shelter until the remainder of the team arrived with more equipment.
“Following medical assessment by the BASICS doctor the casualty was provided pain relief and her leg splinted.
“After some challenging off road driving the team Land Rover arrived at the site and the woman was then loaded into the back and driven carefully back to the car park and waiting land ambulance.”
Team leader, Craig Scollick, added: “Although a relatively short callout, the darkness, gale force wind and heavy rain made this a challenging one.
“It is a testament to our volunteers and their training enabling them to perform so well in these conditions.”
“We wish the casualty a speedy recovery.”
