The authorities said she had been strangled to death but forensic experts also detected injuries on the victim’s arms.
These could have been caused by needle punctures, as reported by Need To Know.
It’s suspected that the killer transported her body to the remote location before placing her in the driver’s seat to make it appear as though she had driven there.
Blanca, councilwoman for the centre-left Citizens’ Movement party in the municipality of Manzanilla de la Paz near Guadalajara, central-western Mexico, was found dead last Friday (13 Feb).

Political groups called on the authorities to investigate the case as femicide.
A spokesperson for local feminist group Las Paritaristas said: “The femicide of Blanca Estela Álvarez, councilwoman of La Manzanilla de la Paz, is not an isolated incident: it is the most brutal expression of violence that continues to claim the lives of women in politics and in public spaces.”
Fabiola Loya, head of the Secretariat for Substantive Equality between Women and Men, stated: “We will remain attentive to the results of the investigation into this case, awaiting its resolution.”
Mexican politician Adriana Medina also called for action: “We demand that this crime be investigated with a gender perspective and that it not go unpunished.
“Violence against women in public life cannot be normalised.”
The investigation is ongoing.
