Her shocked relative thought she managed to get away from her ex, but her answer caused further concern.
“No, he’s right here,” she replied.
The exchange took place between 9:02am and 9:10am on Friday (20 Feb).
In a desperate plea for help, the young woman also called 911.
The 22-year-old was shot three times in her back and head moments later.

The emergency services arrived on the scene and found the armed suspect crouched over the victim’s body.
He allegedly refused to allow paramedics to attend to Thania as she bled out on the ground.
Police officers were eventually able to place the suspect under arrest and seize his firearm along with Thania’s phone.
Paramedics then attended to the victim, but she had already passed away.
Thania, who was studying to become a nurse, was visiting her grandparents in Las Tinajas in northern Argentina for the local carnival when she was reunited with her ex for a social event.
The suspect, named as Diego Salto, was invited to the victim’s aunt’s house for tea, one day before the alleged murder.
Thania and Diego, who were in a relationship for six years, made plans to travel back to their hometown together early in the morning.

The victim needed to return home to Santiago del Estero to resume her nursing studies while Diego had to travel to the nearby city of Fernández for work.
He arrived at the house on his Honda Wave 110 motorcycle at around 5am and they set off.
The alleged murder took place about six miles along their trip, as reported by Need To Know.
It’s unclear what happened between the hours of 5am and 9am, but it’s believed they became embroiled in a heated row.
At this time, the victim sent the messages to her cousin and called the emergency services.
The suspect remained next to the victim’s body for over an hour before giving himself up, according to reports.
He faces charges of femicide as the investigation continues.
