Investigators believe the Honduran national had been dead for at least five days at the property in Charlotte, North Carolina.
The following day (11 Mar), police located and arrested her fiancée, Lhis Brito Costa, on suspicion of murder.

The 23-year-old Brazilian is said to have admitted shooting Evelin in the head after discovering an alleged affair.
She had reportedly proposed to the victim earlier this year, before the relationship broke down.
Both women are understood to have been hearing-impaired, as reported by Need To Know.
Costa later appeared at Mecklenburg County Courthouse, where a judge ordered she be held in custody.
She is due back in court on 2 April.

Evelin’s aunt, Guadalupe, wrote online: “She was a gentle, harmless young woman who never hurt anyone, and it breaks my heart to think how that heartless person could take her life without any mercy – just because my niece didn’t want to be with her any more.”
Evelin’s funeral was held in Charlotte on Thursday (19 Mar).
Her family is now appealing for donations to help cover the cost of repatriating her body.
