A suspect has been arrested more than three decades after a brutal double murder that became known as the ‘Lovers’ Lane’ killings.
Floyd William Parrott, 64, has been charged with capital murder over the deaths of Cheryl Henry and Garland ‘Andy’ Atkinson.
The young couple, aged 22 and 21, were found dead in Houston, Texas, in August 1990.

According to PEOPLE, their bodies were discovered in a secluded cul-de-sac after a security guard noticed a car that had been left parked for some time.
Officers found the pair unresponsive at the scene, both suffering fatal neck injuries.
The case shocked the community and remained unsolved for nearly 36 years despite investigations by local police, the FBI and other agencies, Need To Know reports.

The couple had gone out for the evening before heading to the quiet area, which was known locally as a spot for young couples.
Details from the case described it as particularly violent, with both victims’ throats cut.
Now, in a major breakthrough, Parrott has been arrested in Lincoln, Nebraska.
He is currently awaiting extradition back to Texas.
Authorities said the arrest follows a long-running investigation involving multiple agencies, with prosecutors saying detectives “never gave up” on the case.
According to reports, the breakthrough came decades after the killings, although officials have not yet fully disclosed what led them to identify the suspect.

The case had long been one of Houston’s most notorious unsolved murders.
For the victims’ families, the arrest marks a major development after years of uncertainty.
Investigations are ongoing, with further details expected to be released.
