A group of fishermen were left stunned after a massive great white shark circled their small boat – just a short distance from shore.
James Harris, a farmer from Nhill, Victoria, was out fishing with three mates when the encounter unfolded on April 5.
The group had been fishing about 2km from the Robe Obelisk in South Australia in a four-metre tinny when something suddenly changed.

“We had six or seven albatrosses hanging around us because we were catching fish,” James, 24, told Need To Know.
“Then all of a sudden they flew away at once.”

Moments later, the group spotted a huge dorsal fin heading straight towards them.
“We then saw a massive fin coming at us and realised it was a great white,” he said.
The shark – which James estimated to be around five metres long – swam right up to the boat before circling it three times.
“We were just shocked to see one of that size so close to shore,” he added.
After watching the predator loop around them, the group quickly made the decision to leave.
“It did three circles around us before we got organised and took off in a hurry,” James said.
The terrifying moment was captured on video and later shared to his TikTok account @james_harrris, where it has racked up more than 366,000 views.
Viewers were quick to react to the close encounter.
Martin joked: “You’re gonna need a bigger boat.”

Another user, Ollie, added: “‘We’re outta here’ is the correct response.”
Kelly wrote: “I’m on land sitting on my couch. Seeing this stresses me out.”
Meanwhile, another person said: “She’s beautiful, how lucky to see her so close up.”
