Two gunmen stormed a bar and shot at least eight people sitting at a table in a horror attack.

Two men were killed at the scene and six others were injured.

One of those injured is in critical condition.

One witness said they “intended to kill everyone at the table”.

CCTV footage showed the suspects coolly entering the bar before appearing to open fire at several customers.

The alleged shooting took place in the town of Yarumal in northern Colombia at around 7:30pm on Sunday (19 Apr).

Police named the fatalities as Joan Mariano Euse Londoño and Diego Edinson Velásquez.

They were both killed at the scene by multiple gunshot wounds.

The six injured victims are Yoni Mauricio Mazo Zapata, Verónica Yulieth Muñoz Rodríguez, Robinson Arley Preciado Rúa, Manuela Muñoz Vélez, José Luis Cárdenas Velásquez, and Juan David Palacio Betancur.

The latter was critically injured and transferred to a hospital in Medellín.

The authorities believe the shooting was a settling of scores linked to the Gulf Clan criminal group.

One gunman has been identified by his alias ‘Davinson’.

He is believed to be a hitman working for the ‘Julio César Vargas Torres’ substructure of the Gulf Clan, one of Colombia’s most powerful criminal organisations.

Investigators suspect the shooting was linked to disputes over micro-trafficking control in the area, as reported by Need To Know.

Yarumal is considered a strategic corridor for drug trafficking groups, particularly the Gulf Clan and the National Liberation Army.

Antioquia governor Andrés Julián Rendón condemned the “barbaric act”, stating that the town has become a battleground for criminal organisations.

He criticised judicial delays, noting that outstanding arrest warrants allow criminals to operate with relative impunity.

Local authorities have requested additional support from the National Army and have called for stronger coordination to tackle the rising homicide rate in the region.

They also implemented a temporary curfew in the sector to prevent further retaliatory violence.

Investigations continue.
