A popular TV presenter has died aged 37 after a 10-year battle with cancer.

Chen Xi Fei, better known as Xi Fei, passed away on Sunday (2 May) afternoon.

Her family announced her death on her social media account.

Xi, who came from Mianyang City, China, was remembered as someone who “loved to smile, radiant like a flower” and brought warmth to the TV screen.

She was a presenter for over 16 years as well as hosting over 3,000 weddings and commercial events.

Xi, who had over 85,000 followers on the social network Weibo, had been sharing updates about her treatment in the period leading up to her passing.

She was diagnosed with cervical cancer and secondary bone cancer in 2016.

In 2018, Xi underwent radiotherapy and chemotherapy, travelling alone to Beijing for care.

Despite her illness, she continued working and in 2021 appeared on China Central Television’s talent show ‘Fight Harder’, where she performed the song ‘The Sun’.

By 2024 she suffered double kidney failure and began dialysis, but still remained active.

She hosted the Mianyang Spring Lantern Festival early that year and, in June, her best friend’s wedding.

Doctors had given her just three to six months to live in 2019, but she defied the odds for seven more years.

In June 2025, she expressed a modest wish in a video: “I just want an ordinary life.

“Even if it’s just five more years, is that possible?”

Two months later she added: “I really don’t want to give up, but what can I do if heaven won’t give me a way?”

Her final video, posted on 21 April, showed her holding three cherries with no caption, a moment fans have since interpreted as a silent, final farewell to her audience.

Tributes poured in after the announcement, with nearly 50,000 comments on her obituary post, as reported by Need To Know.

In accordance with her wishes, the funeral was kept simple.

Her story has touched many, highlighting her resilience and passion for life and work until the end.
