A filmmaker has died after being hit by a car while trying to get her beloved dog out of danger in the road.
Paz Ramírez, 39, was crossing an avenue with her dog Marta at around 5pm on Sunday (23 August) when the animal reportedly fell behind.
Paz turned back and picked up her pet before continuing towards the pavement.

But just seconds later, and only feet from safety, she was struck by a speeding car in Santiago, Chile.
The driver allegedly failed to stop and fled the scene.
Paz was rushed to hospital but tragically died from her injuries a few hours later, as reported by Need To Know.
Authorities are now hunting for the driver, with CCTV footage reportedly capturing the vehicle and its registration plate.
Prosecutors have established that the car is registered to a Venezuelan national.
However, they stressed that the owner has not been confirmed as the person who was behind the wheel at the time.
Paz was a filmmaker and audiovisual producer who worked as an assistant director on films including No in 2012 and The 33 in 2015.
She also worked across directing, cinematography, screenwriting and production and was executive director of Alga Estudio, an audiovisual development platform in Valdivia.
Paz was the half-sister of Chilean actresses María José and Ángela Prieto.
María José paid a heartbreaking tribute to her sister on social media.
She wrote: “Beautiful Paz, with your radiant smile, your unique beauty and incomparable talent.
“We will miss you so much. Your departure hurts us deeply.”
Paz had been due to announce a new production project on Monday (24 August) – the day after the fatal collision.
Police are continuing to investigate the hit-and-run and search for the driver.
