A gunman who chased down a rapper on a busy motorway before shooting him 13 times has been jailed for life.

Kewon White, 27, was found guilty of capital murder over the brutal killing of rapper MO3, whose real name was Melvin Noble.

The 28-year-old musician was ambushed in broad daylight after stopping his car on Interstate 35E.

Chilling footage showed MO3 getting out of his vehicle and running across the busy road as a masked gunman armed with a rifle chased after him, as reported by Need To Know.

White then opened fire, shooting the rapper 13 times.

MO3 was rushed to hospital but died from his injuries.

A jury has now convicted White following a two-week trial, deliberating for around three hours before reaching its verdict.

He was sentenced to life behind bars without the possibility of parole.

The sentence was mandatory after prosecutors decided not to seek the death penalty.

Prosecutors alleged White had been hired to carry out the killing by fellow rapper Yella Beezy, real name Markies Conway.

They claim the murder followed a years-long feud between MO3 and Conway which began on social media in 2017.

Prosecutors allege Conway later withdrew $40,000 from his bank as part of the murder-for-hire plot.

Conway has pleaded not guilty and is due to stand trial separately.

Jurors heard phone and surveillance evidence tracing White’s movements before and after the shooting.

Prosecutors said a black Camaro linked to White followed MO3 after he left an apartment complex.

Footage from after the killing also reportedly showed White burning clothes on a barbecue.

The fatal ambush happened in Dallas, Texas, in November 2020.

White became the first defendant to stand trial in connection with MO3’s killing.

Following the verdict, the rapper’s mum Nichole Noble addressed her son’s killer directly.

She told White: “I love you. Maybe that’s what you needed to hear.”

White reportedly bowed his head and cried as she spoke.

Conway’s trial is currently scheduled to begin on September 14.
