A young woman plummeted to her death into a rocky waterfall while visiting the landmark with her family.
Bacilia Rojas Antezana, 21, was initially reported missing after reportedly slipping on a rock, falling into a chasm and being swept away by the surging current.
Bacilia is said to have been trying to take a photograph of the beauty spot in Totora, near Bolivia’s eastern city of Cochabamba, when she fell 328ft into the raging river.

Local Mayor Wilder Castellón confirmed a search was launched after his office received reports of the incident around 6 pm on Tuesday (3 November), as reported by Need To Know.
They were joined by Bacilia’s family and members of the local community.

At around 10 am Wednesday (4 November), the young woman’s body was found submerged and wedged between the rocks of the river.
Provincial Police Director of Totora, Sub-Officer Bernardo Guillén Serrano, told local media: “We spotted a body submerged in the water, wedged on the rocks.
“Recovering the body proved quite difficult, but with the help of the community members, we were able to retrieve it.”

The rescue team’s initial efforts had been hampered due to the rocky, steep terrain and the strong current of the river that took Bacilia.
The mayor previously requested the help of national and regional civil emergency officers due to his limited resources to operate a search in the area.
