A super rare 219mph Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren Stirling Moss is selling for £2.7million…but it has no windscreen or roof.

Only 75 of the supercars were ever made 15 years ago.

It boasts a 641 bhp, 5.4-litre supercharged AMG V-8 engine.

The sleek silver, two-seater can do 0-60mph in just 3.5 seconds.

The design was Inspired by Sir Stirling Moss’ Mille Miglia endurance race victory in 1955.

It has only done 5,737 miles – just 382 per year.

But it has tripled in value because they were originally sold for £780,000.

It is being sold at auction by RM Sotheby’s and the guide price is £2.7million.

However, there are a couple of drawbacks, it has no windscreen or roof.

This car was delivered new to Luxembourg before later being exported to the Middle East.

A Sotheby’s spokesperson said: “The Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren Stirling Moss was unveiled at the 2009 North American International Auto Show.

“A lightweight speedster variant of the SLR as potent in performance as it is arresting in appearance.

“Just 75 examples were built, offered exclusively to existing SLR owners as a modern homage to the exquisite 300 SLR that Stirling Moss campaigned to victory in the 1955 Mille Miglia.

Rather like the 300 SLR, nearly all the creature comforts of the car it is based on were sacrificed in the pursuit of performance, aesthetics and extreme driving enjoyment.

“Even the windscreen and roof were forfeited, which not only adds to the visual drama but ramps up the intensity of the driving experience tenfold. “

They added: “This level of performance is accomplished by utilising the same 641 brake horsepower, 5.4-litre supercharged AMG V-8 that powers the SLR 722 Edition and pairing it with 200 kilograms of weight savings.

“Achieved by adoption of the speedster style as well as the extensive use of carbon fibre for the bodywork, underside, and new aerodynamic package.

“Undoubtably one of the most memorable supercars produced thus far into the 21st Century, the SLR Stirling Moss provides a truly unrivalled driving experience to its lucky owners.

“This example would be no exception to that rule, and would surely thrill the most demanding of enthusiasts.”

The auction takes place in Dubai on 9 March.
