A 62-year-old woman was left heartbroken after being seduced online by ‘Brad Pitt’, only to discover it was all a scam.

Elena Cornea said the conman posing as the Hollywood heartthrob even confessed his love to her.

During the course of their online relationship, Elena sent £1,112 (EUR 1,300) to the swindler.

She later realised she’d been duped by a group of scammers, apparently from Nigeria.

The Romanian woman, who has lived in Ourense, Spain, for the last 12 years, has reported the scammers to the Spanish Civil Guard.

She said she wanted to warn others of the risks of getting involved with Hollywood celebrities on social media.

Elena explained: “He messaged me on TikTok to offer a VIP membership card.

“I subscribed and left my details then I started receiving messages on WhatsApp.

“He showed me a driver’s license with a photo of himself, I was left speechless.

“With that VIP card, I was going to take part in some events and receive gifts.

“Other celebrities would come to meet me and provide me with financial help.”

She added: “Brad Pitt came to Romania in 2000 and I saw him from about 50 metres away.

“I really liked him in Dallas, which was shown in my country in 1987 or ’88.

“I rate him as an actor, I loved him in Troy.”

After apparently believing she was chatting with the real Brad Pitt, she warned him not to play games with her heart.

Elena added: “I told him ‘Be careful not to play with me too much, I am a simple woman but don’t make me mad or I’ll report you’.”

“You had to see how he spoke with me, he sent hearts and kisses, and played a lot with my emotions.”

She added: “He even told me that he loves me.”

Elena claimed: “They are Nigerians, very young, I think there is a company behind them.

“I saved an image of one of the Nigerians who appeared in a video call.

“I block them and they come back, I block them again and they still return.”

She told Spanish media that she received the first message in October 2023 and is still receiving them today.

She said: “I had a message from them on Monday in which Brad Pitt said he is disappointed with me because I stopped replying to him.”

In total, she sent EUR 1,300 in cash to the alleged scammers.

Cornea explained: “I sent them £257 (EUR 300) from my card and then another £855 (EUR 1,000) by transfer.

“In addition, they have all my information, my national insurance number, my address, everything.”

She wanted to warn other women of the situation to prevent them from being conned out of their hard-earned cash, as reported by Need to Know.

A Civil Guard investigation into her allegations is ongoing.
