A baby had a safety pin removed from his throat after he accidentally swallowed it.

The seven-month-old boy’s mother said she left him on the bed for a few minutes while she went to run a bath.

When she returned, she found him crying and excessively drooling.

The large pin had become lodged in the baby’s hypopharynx, the lower area of the throat.

X-rays showed it open in his airway.

A medical team safely removed the obstruction during surgery.

Four men sparked outrage by using a boa constrictor as a skipping rope, swinging it while one of them jumped over it. The incident, labeled as animal abuse, occurred in remote Argentina, drawing criticism on social media.

The operation took place at the Dr Antonio María Béguez César Children’s Hospital in Santiago de Cuba, in southern Cuba.

The procedure passed without complications and the baby was discharged from hospital three days later.

The medical team was led by otolaryngologist Dr. Zaida María León Castellano, as reported by What’s the Jam.

The ear, nose, and throat specialist said: “He spent the first 24 hours in intensive care to better monitor the case, taking into account he is an infant.

“Then he was taken to a ward and today we’re happy to announce that he was discharged.”

The hospital director said the health specialists will continue to monitor the baby’s progress at his home.

The hospital also called on parents and caregivers to always be vigilant around young children.
