A plus-sized travel influencer has highlighted essential changes airlines should adopt to make travel more comfortable for curvier passengers.

Emily Jones, who frequently journeys between Malta, the UK, and Helsinki, is advocating for the travel industry to better accommodate larger individuals.

She emphasizes the need for airlines to simplify the boarding process and provide additional support for passengers requiring extra adjustments.

In an interview with MailOnline, Emily suggested that airlines should announce the availability of seatbelt extensions during boarding.

She explained, “From my experience and from what people share in my messages online, asking for an extension is a significant fear for plus-size people.

De-stigmatizing this would allow people to travel comfortably without added anxiety.”

Emily also recommended that hotels offer larger towels and plus-sized bathrobes to enhance comfort for larger guests. She pointed out that flight seats are “notoriously uncomfortable” for plus-size travelers and highlighted the social challenges they face, such as “awkward stares” in some countries.

However, she praised the Seychelles for being one of the most inclusive places she has visited.

By documenting her travels on social media, Emily aims to inspire other plus-size individuals to explore the world. She advocates for more inclusive representation in travel media to create a welcoming environment for all body types, emphasizing that everyone deserves the opportunity to see the world.

In a similar vein, plus-size beauty queen and avid traveler Soraya Orelien shared her experiences with The U.S. Sun. Having visited over 15 countries, Soraya recounted the mixed receptions she received due to her curvy figure. She noted that while she has always had an athletic build, her body type often attracted unwanted attention.

Soraya’s travel experiences have not always been positive. She mentioned that during a recent trip to Japan, the smaller seats posed a significant challenge.

Despite these difficulties, Soraya continues to embrace her love for travel, using her platform to share insights and encourage other plus-size women to embark on their own journeys.

Similarly, Kirsty Leanne, who once believed she was “too fat to travel,” now travels the world after her side hustle took off.

She began creating TikTok content to fill a gap in the market for plus-size-friendly travel tips, aiming to show women of all sizes that they can travel comfortably and confidently.

These influencers are using their platforms to push for a more inclusive travel industry, advocating for changes that make travel more accessible and enjoyable for everyone, regardless of size.
