Two crooks have been arrested for a heist at a stadium ahead of a Sir Paul McCartney concert.

The pair and an accomplice managed to slip into the venue without arousing suspicion.

CCTV footage shows how two men entered the stadium grounds on foot and another in a white van.

The snatched items belong to an external company that provides services to the stadium.

The men allegedly loaded them into their van and drove away just after 11 am yesterday (9 October).

The theft took place at Estadio Monumental football stadium in Macul, southeast of Santiago, Chile.

Police spokesman Maj Sebastián Muñoz said: “The individuals took advantage of the event’s hustle and bustle to enter the stadium and steal tools from one of the storage rooms.”

The value of the haul was calculated to be £9,000 (11m CLP).

After studying CCTV footage, the police were able to track the crooks’ van to a spot in nearby Recoleta and seize it.

Muñoz said: “All of the stolen items were recovered.”

Further suspicious goods were also found inside the property with police snaps showing t-shirts, caps, and water bottles.

Muñoz said: “We’re investigating the origin of these items.”

A handgun was also among the items seized by the police, as reported by Need To Know.

The arrested pair reportedly have criminal records for receiving stolen goods and multiple counts of theft.

They are being held at the Macul Police Station as the investigation continues.

Beatles legend Sir Paul will perform at the Estadio Monumental tomorrow (11 October) as part of his Got Back Tour.
