A businesswoman was left devastated after her restaurant floated away during a flood.

Mohd Izhan Ramli’s houseboat eatery was swept away by the strong currents of a river.

In an emotional video, she cries as she helplessly watches her livelihood disappear.

Mohd has said that the roof of the restaurant was initially damaged by a fallen tree, and she then heard a loud noise.

The ropes keeping the boat house stable in the water were cut off due to the impact caused by the fallen tree.

Luckily, there was nobody inside at the time as Mohd had cancelled several reservations that day due to disruption caused by floods.

The estimated value of the successful business is £214,000 (1.2 million RM), as reported by Need To Know.

It is located on the Kelantan River, Kota Bharu, Malaysia with the incident occurring yesterday (Nov 27) at around 3.30pm.

Villagers and the Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM) were able to successfully save the restaurant from being lost for good.

The Kelantan APM Marine Unit office was located just a few metres from the scene.

A boat launched by the team was able to chase after the drifting houseboat and a raft that Mohd also owned.

It had entered a slightly slower stream which meant they were able to catch up with it.

Mohd has a very long road ahead however to get the restaurant back on its feet.

Her business suffered structural damage which has affected the property, and also the furniture and stock.

Freshly purchased king crabs stored in a freezer had been submerged during the incident.

It has been estimated that Mohd has suffered £143,000 (800,000 RM) in losses.

To allow time for repairs, she will be taking a week-long break from operations.
