A furious customer claims that an Uber driver used an online photo of sick in a car to force him to pay an £80 fine.

Adam Frame used the app, Taxi Giant, with his partner, Chloe, 25, his brother, Paul, 45, and Paul’s fiancé, Lucy, 44.

The 29-year-old claims that Lucy became unwell on the 40-minute journey home.

He says that the taxi driver pulled over while Lucy vomited, but it was on the side of the road.

Call centre advisor, Adam, says the driver was helpful and offered hand sanitiser so the group gave him a £10 tip in cash.

Adam claims he was shocked when he received an email from Uber, two days later, stating that he was being fined £80 as one of the passengers had thrown up in the taxi.

He says that when he asked for evidence, the driver submitted a photo of vomit on the back seat of the car.

After some research, Adam claims he found the same image that the driver had used online.

“We had to pull over around a mile away from home as my brother’s fiancé felt sick,” Adam, from Sunderland, told Need To Know.

“So, the taxi driver happily pulled over and we all got out of the car while she was sick on the side of the road.”

“The driver was actually really helpful with hand sanitiser at the ready.

“Then, we got back in the car, carried on as normal and apologised for the inconvenience of pulling over so gave him some cash.

“We double-checked if there was any mess left, which there wasn’t at all, because she wasn’t sick in the car.

“I was honestly shocked when we got the fine because we knew there was no mess left.

“We complained on Chloe’s account asking for photo evidence of this because there’s no chance of it being us.

“We checked for the image on Google because we knew it wasn’t us. We would have noticed such a mess on the seat.

“I honestly couldn’t believe my eyes when we found the photo on Google.

“My brother came across the picture on Google and it had been posted five years ago.

“We were like, ‘What on Earth?’ and we honestly couldn’t believe this could happen, especially from a company like Uber.”

Adam says he complained to Uber and has received a refund, but would like an apology for the stress the incident caused him and his partner.

He also says he’d never use the company again.

Adam added: “There was no reason at all to fine us.

“When I complained the first time, it was to say it wasn’t us who made the mess, so they refunded the money.

“Now, I’ve found the image online, I have an open complaint, but I’ve had no response from them.

“I’m disappointed as it’s such a big matter.

“I’m expecting some sort of resolution from Uber to compensate for the stress of this situation and an apology.

“I’ll never use Uber again.”

It happened last Saturday (28 Dec).

Uber has been approached for comment.
