A gang of suspected criminals were busted for allegedly nicking £50,000 worth of plush toys from a Disneyland resort.

Seven unnamed men and women are accused of being part of the operation which saw them sometimes be stolen multiple times in one day.

Police carefully investigated a series of theft cases before they made arrests.

In a space of two weeks, it was found that a gang had stolen plush toys with a value of £50,000.

According to police, they then sold them on for a higher price.

The gang divided the work between themselves and strategically cooperated with each other so that they could steal as much as they could.

Police found that two were allegedly focused on stealing the goods.

Police were called to a shop in Disney Town at the end of January, as reported by Need To Know.

Staff in the store had caught two people stealing and were able to hold them back.

At the time, police officer Zhang Zili stated that the suspects seemed very calm and even fearless.

After the shop performed stock checks which revealed significantly low numbers, authorities became suspicious that more than two people could be involved.

They reviewed surveillance footage taken at Disneyland which showed that the people were operating in a group.

Some of the gang members would allegedly hover behind the store in a secluded area.

Toys would then be handed over to them so that they could be taken away from the resort, it is claimed.

The investigation found that they had allegedly been making a living through Disneyland, in Shanghai, China, for a long time.

After they successfully stole plush toys a few times, they became more confident, it’s alleged.

On some occasions, police found they entered the same shop more than 10 times in one day, it is claimed.

The seven suspects are currently being held by the Shanghai Pudong Police.
