Actress reveals she has skin cancer after ‘spending too much time in sun’

An actress has revealed that she has skin cancer after ‘spending too much time in the sun’.

Constanza Piccoli Molina, better known as Coni Piccoli, said she was diagnosed with basal cell carcinoma in her breast.

The 33-year-old revealed her health scare to warn others about the dangers of the sun’s ultraviolet rays.

She said it started as a small wound that failed to heal over a six-month period.

Coni told her 740,000 Instagram fans: “A scab would form, fall off, and the wound would remain.”

After noticing the wound wouldn’t heal, she emphasised the importance of prevention and confirmed that she will need to undergo surgery.

She said doctors caught the carcinoma at an early state.

During her message, she highlighted a phrase from her father that has been fundamental in her journey: “Bad news delivered in time is always good news.”

The Chilean actress and singer, who found fame on teen series such as BKN and Karkú, blamed her past skincare habits for causing the cancer.

She said she exposed herself to the sun for long periods without proper protection, even going as far as to use tanning accelerators.

Coni, who starred in the 2016 film ‘Attitude Test’, said: “Today, using sunscreen is essential for my health.”

She also explained that her mother battled melanoma, a more aggressive form of skin cancer, in 2022.

Although her mother successfully overcame the disease, her family history motivated the actress to regularly attend checkups, which ultimately led to the discovery of her current carcinoma.

She has since had the lesion removed, as reported by Need To Know.

Due to the carcinoma’s location, the actress acknowledged that it will leave a mark on her body.

Coni said: “The scar is going to be super visible, although I keep saying it’s going to be a war scar.”

“There is a lot of misinformation or ignorance surrounding this issue, but I think the only thing I can say is to use sunscreen, avoid prolonged sun exposure, and take care of yourselves.

“The skin is the largest organ in the human body.”

She added: “Go see a dermatologist.”

One fan said: “That scar will be beautiful! We’re sending you lots of love for this process.”

“I also had basal cell carcinoma, but on my scalp. The biopsy procedure was very painful; I had 10 stitches in total,” added Isabel.

Consuelo remarked: “I’m so glad you caught it early! Last year I went to the dermatologist to have my moles checked and I had a terrible experience.”
