A pro-Donald Trump influencer has been released from immigration detention after spending two months in custody.

Júnior Pena, who has around 500,000 followers on Instagram, had been held at the Delaney Hall detention centre in New Jersey since 31 January.

He confirmed his release in a video shared online on Friday, saying a federal agent told him a judge had ordered his release, as reported by Need To Know.

He may still be required to leave the country upon his release.

In the clip, Pena, from Brazil, said: “The officer said ‘freedom’.”

He now plans to write a book about his experience, which lasted around 60 days.

Pena’s detention had been linked to a missed court appearance in the United States.

Maycon MacDowel, a police officer and friend of the influencer, said Pena was detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) after allegedly failing to attend a hearing related to a car ownership issue.

MacDowel said Pena’s lawyer had requested a postponement, but the update was not reflected in the system.

Pena has reportedly lived in the United States since 2009.

While his release marks a significant development, questions remain over his immigration status and whether he will be required to leave the country.

Before his arrest, Pena had posted videos expressing support for the US President.

In one, he said “I like the guy”, adding that he “will deport criminals”.

One Instagram user, Sheila – who claims to have personal experience with immigration proceedings – believes Pena had been granted “self-deportation”.

Supporters also took to social media to celebrate his release.

“Long live freedom!!!” another user, Lane, wrote.

Another person wrote: “We’re in this together!!! United right wing, we will win in Brazil in 2026.”
