Tesco shoppers have been left scratching their heads after the supermarket launched new “gourmet” sandwich kits.
The Tesco Finest kits are designed to let customers build their own premium sandwiches at home, as meal kits continue to grow in popularity.
Each pack contains ingredients for three sandwiches and is priced at £3.75 – or £3 with a Clubcard.

But there’s one detail that’s caught shoppers off guard.
The kits don’t include bread or salad – meaning customers have to supply their own, Need To Know reports.
The range comes in three flavours: Salt Beef Brisket and Emmental, Chicken and Bacon Caesar, and Wiltshire Cured Ham & Barber’s Mature Cheddar.

Ingredients include items such as British chicken breast, smoked bacon, Parmigiano Reggiano and chutneys – with the idea being shoppers can customise their own sandwich.
However, the concept has sparked debate online after one shopper shared the product on Reddit.
Posting to the r/tesco subreddit, they pointed out that the Chicken and Bacon Caesar kit didn’t include lettuce – a key ingredient for the classic sandwich.
The post quickly gained traction, with users divided over the idea.

One user said: “This is one step too far lol”.
Another added: “And no bread! Shocker”.’.

A third user wrote: “I can get the no lettuce… sucks but ok. But no bread in a sandwich kit? What is even the point??”

Meanwhile, one user disagreed and argued the reason for not including these ingredients: “Salad would get manky very quickly in that box.”
