A football fan was left seriously injured after falling from a great height while celebrating his country’s opening World Cup victory.
The 27-year-old supporter, described in local reports as an amateur stuntman, was attempting a daring celebration when he lost his balance and fell from a telescopic crane mounted on a lorry chassis.
The accident took place during wild street parties in Mexico City following Mexico’s 2-0 win over South Africa.

Witnesses stated that the man appeared to lose his balance while attempting a reckless stunt high above the chanting crowd.
Video footage showed the moment he tumbled from the back of the elevated platform, landing awkwardly on the ground as onlookers reacted in shock.
He appeared unconscious as medics rushed to assist him at the scene.
The fan suffered a serious head injury and required immediate medical attention, as reported by Need To Know.
He was admitted to hospital in a serious condition, but a spokesperson has confirmed that he is now stable, conscious, and recovering well.
Mexico, co-hosting the 2026 tournament, defeated South Africa 2-0 in their Group A opener at the Azteca Stadium, with goals from Julián Quiñones and Raúl Jiménez.
The victory triggered nationwide celebrations that lasted into the night.
