The former home of Frank Sinatra has gone on sale for $21.5 million – and it comes with a history steeped in Hollywood gossip.
The stunning mansion, nestled in the Chatsworth hills area of Los Angeles, California, was the long-time home of the hit singer, who rented it for a decade and hosted a variety of famous faces.
Back in the early 1960’s, the Hollywood rumour mill went into overdrive due to an alleged affair between Marilyn Monroe and the then-president, John F. Kennedy – which was believed to take place in Sinatra’s guest house.
Today, the pad has undergone a huge remodel and been renamed ‘Byrdview’.
The property is perched on a hill-top with 360-degree views over Los Angeles, the mountains and the surrounding 3,000 acres of nature preserve.
Set over 4.3 acres, the home is flooded with natural light and enjoys luxurious finishes including a home bar, gym, large chef’s kitchen, and an incredibly private location that can’t be seen from the road.
The house is kitted out with top-of-the-line appliances and a handful of fireplaces.
There are also several entertainment areas dotted both inside and outside of the property – making it a true party pad.
The mansion’s history also includes being used as a filming backdrop for films, music videos, television sitcoms and fashion advertising.
The house and grounds have been seen in films such as Swordfish, Dreamgirls, Transformers and Bewitched.
It has also featured in TV series Mad Men and Californication, and in music videos by Mariah Carey, Usher and Rihanna.
It was built in 1949 for Chase Bank heiress and socialite, Dora Hutchinson, who hired futuristic architect William Pereira to design the home – which was then named ‘Farralone’.
It is currently for sale at $21.5 million with Craig Knizek of The Agency, Beverly Hills.
