Bin and recycling workers paid for a stray cat’s vet bill – after it was attacked by a seagull.

Pudding had been lounging outside when she was pounced on by the savage gull.

The petrified moggy fled across the road – only narrowly avoiding being hit by a bus.

The attack left her with a bad limp and deep cut on her shoulder.

Recycling centre staff found her hiding in her shelter at the depot, in Exeter.

Workers say the cat – who hangs out at the depot each day – looked in a great deal of pain.

Pudding was taken to the Cats Protection Society where she was treated for a flesh wound.

She was stitched up and given a course of antibiotics – with the bill coming in at £100.

Exeter City Council’s bin crew and recycling team set up a collection pot for the treatment – with it being fully funded at 9am that morning.

Locals have praised the workers.

Amanda Leach said: “Aww poor Pudding she’s such a lovely cat.

“Great work everyone, glad she’s on the mend.”

Sarah Holter said: “Well done for looking out for her and she definitely is a pudding.”

Local Wendy added: “There are so many truly kind and caring people about well deserved thank you to them.”

David Goodes said: “I’ve seen the cat at the depot & it’s a real character.

“Well done to the staff for looking after her.”

Petra Fairclough said: “This is so heartwarming.

“What a caring generous bunch you all are. It restores your faith in human nature, hearing things likes this – 10/10 for kindness.”
