Story from Jam Press (Dopey Squirrel) Pictured: The squirrel. Dopey squirrel sparks massive cops and firefighter rescue after getting its head stuck in station roof A dopey squirrel sparked a massive rescue operation involving cops and firefighters after getting its head stuck in a station roof. The woodland creature poked his bonce through a hole, but then couldn’t wriggle free. A worried passenger alerted the RSPCA because they were concerned for the hapless animal. The animal charity then called in police, fire crews to help with the odd rescue. South Western Railway and Network Rail were also alerted. Firefighters used a ladder to climb up to the station roof in Farnborough Main station, Hampshire. They found the squirrel’s bottom and bushy tail sticking out the top. The crew were able to squeeze it out and release it back into the wild. Concerned local Dee Mackie said: “I pulled into the station to see =fireman on the roof. “But my train left before they managed to free the little one.” An RSPCA spokesperson said: "A squirrel got his head firmly wedged into this station roof. “He was released with help from our friends at Network Rail, Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service and Hampshire Police.” ENDS
