Cops are baffled after 20 fined motorists claim they couldn’t see an unmissable road marking in a Premier League footballer town.
The drivers were all given tickets by puzzled police officers.
They had all turned right down a narrow street.
However, the road has a very large white sign painted on the road that reads: ‘Turn left.’
It also has a clear arrow pointing in the left direction.
The sign is so big it takes up most of the road.
When presented with tickets, drivers insist that they didn’t see the obvious sign opposite Knutsford’s Antique Centre, Knutsford, Cheshire.

The town is popular with footballers like Man City’s Kyle Walker and John Stones and Everton’s Jordan Pickford living nearby.
A Cheshire Police spokesperson said: “After various complaints from members of the public in Knutsford, the police have attended Minshull Street today.
“And issued over 20 tickets to drivers turning right onto Kings Street, when they were supposed to follow the sign to proceed left only as it shows on the picture.
”Many drivers stated that they didn’t realise that the sign was there but it is clearly marked.
“We understand the frustrations regarding the congestion due to road works on Toft Road but drivers should drive to the rules of the road.”
Locals were left scratching their heads at the driver’s excuses.
One person, Dominic Wadnipfield said: “They know full well what they are doing.”
Robert Bistrow said: “If they can’t see gigantic writing on the road and the sign they should probably hand their licence in.”
Darren Harris said: ”Didn’t realise.
”Anyone saying that should sit a basic English or common sense test.”
