Mary Leary decided to pop into a convenience store to pick up a scratchcard.
She bought one for £8.20 ($10).
While her husband was busy getting a short back and sides, Mary scratched off her ticket and scooped £531,590 ($650,000).
The odds of her winning the jackpot were 1 in 1,792 million.
She bought her winning scratchcard at Sunrise Market in her hometown of Wilmington, Massachusetts, US.
Mary said she will use some of her Massachusetts State Lottery’s Diamonds jackpot to take a plush holiday with her husband.
The convenience store will receive a bonus of £8,179 ($10,000) for selling the winning scratchcard.
Last month, a Massachusetts man won a million on the lottery after his cleaner found the long-forgotten ticket in a vase.
Khalil Soussa bought the $15,000,000 Money Maker scratchcard several months before.
It wasn’t until his house cleaner found it in a vase and handed it to him that he got around to checking the numbers.
Incredibly, the lost scratchcard scooped Soussa $1 million.
According to the Massachusetts Lottery, he chose the cash option and took home a one-time payment of $650,000 before taxes.
