A brave business owner bundled two armed robbers out of his office after their gun jammed.
The CCTV footage shows the two suspects, one brandishing a handgun, confronting Rafael Almeida as he works at his desk.
One suspect demands the businessman’s wallet and phones as his accomplice threatens him with the gun.
After the gunman whacks him around his head, Rafael gets to his feet and tries to disarm the suspect.
The armed robber tries to fire his weapon at the onrushing victim but it appears to fail.
The plucky owner then pushes the two crooks towards the door and goes after the gunman.
The attempted robbery took place in Contagem near Belo Horizonte in Brazil on the evening of 18 December.
After the attack, he said the crooks demanded valuables such as mobile phones, laptops, and the passwords for his bank accounts.
He said: “They started threatening me and my survival instincts kicked in.
“My first reaction was to go after the guy with the gun in his hand so I could get out of that situation alive.”
He said the gunman tried to shoot him, but the weapon apparently jammed.
Almeida also told local media: “Then I went for it, all or nothing.
“It was my life that was at risk.”
He also claimed that the gunman tried to shoot him at other points during the altercation.
The two criminals eventually fled the scene empty-handed.
Rafael said: “It’s not always the right thing to react, we are always told to let it happen.
“It’s not something I’m going to brag about and say it was for the best.
“But I imagine if it didn’t happen that way, something far worse could have occurred.”
He added: “It’s a situation in which we are powerless.
“We go to work, do everything right, pay our taxes, and then something like this happens due to a lack of public security.”
The police investigation into the attempted robbery is ongoing. No suspects have been identified yet.
