Pop Specs, a groundbreaking eyewear company co-founded by optical experts Lina Tejoprayitno and Daniel Barnes, has achieved a major milestone by securing a significant investment on the renowned TV show, Dragons’ Den. The company, which began its journey in 2020, aims to revolutionize the eyewear industry by making the process of buying glasses quick, enjoyable, and affordable.
Creating a buzz across the UK, Pop Specs has introduced kiosks in shopping malls, offering an eclectic mix of stylish, funky, and classic eyewear, with prices starting from a modest £75. Their standout feature is the rapid service – crafting custom lenses for customers in a mere 20 minutes.
This innovative approach caught the eye of Dragons’ Den investors Peter Jones, Touker Suleyman, and Sara Davies, who each invested £25,000 for a 4% stake in the company. This £75,000 investment is set to fuel Pop Specs’ growth ambitions, including the launch of an online platform, expanding their UK presence, and establishing new kiosks in supermarkets as well as shopping centers.
Lina Tejoprayitno, co-founder of Pop Specs, expressed the vision behind their venture, “Glasses shopping can be expensive and time-consuming. Pop Specs is here to change that by offering quality and speed at an affordable price.”
The Dragons were notably impressed with Pop Specs’ business model and potential. Peter Jones lauded Lina and Daniel as ‘a breath of fresh air’, while Sara Davies was unequivocal in her support, seeing no reason not to invest.
Reflecting on their experience, Daniel Barnes said, “It was challenging to secure the investment, but leaving the Den with three Dragons on board is a dream come true. We’re thrilled about the future of Pop Specs.”
This investment from Dragons’ Den marks a significant turning point for Pop Specs, as they endeavor to transform the eyewear shopping experience. For more information about Pop Specs and their innovative products, visit pop-specs.com.
