“My wife, my children, we’re stunned. We don’t know what to say to you.”
The pair swapped details and Guillermo and his team began work on the tailor-made grill.
Images of the outdoor cooker show how it features an image of the 2022 World Cup winner performing his signature goal celebration on the charcoal box door.
The names of his wife Antonella and kids Thiago, Mateo, and Ciro are also displayed on the handcrafted grill’s legs.
Labo Hierro – which is based in San Miguel near Buenos Aires, Argentina – successfully delivered it to the city in Florida, US.
The firm wrote: “You knocked on the door of this humble workshop full of dreams and hopes.
“You chose us among hundreds and touched our hearts, even though we are miles away.
“Considering that we only step onto the field to do what we were taught – work and work – we never imagined we would have such a beautiful piece of play!”
Local Nico joked: “A question I didn’t see anyone ask.
“Did you charge him for the grill? What a dilemma, right? Ha ha.
“He ordered it himself, it’s fair to charge. But I’d even give him my life as a gift.”
Labo said: “It was a purchase as such.
“Plus, we gave him another one, but yeah. Messi is incredible and Anto too, both are spectacular.”
According to local media, the grill would have set Messi – whose reported net worth is around £500 million – £616.
Thanks to the superstar’s purchase, the small firm now boasts 157,000 followers on Instagram.
It writes in its bio: “The Grill of Captain Leo Messi.”
