The woman then carried on walking along the pavement before dipping it into another puddle.
She then dumped the white gown on a fence and walked off.
A man was seen with her appearing to film the incident on his mobile phone.
Joel Potter, 28 and Caitlin Wood, 30 – who run wedding photography business Dynamic Glow – said their van was broken into.
The dress in the footage was stolen, along with others, plus veils, cameras, tripods and cash.
It was parked in Chippenham Road, in the Ancoats area of Manchester while they went for a cup of tea.
The pair returned to discover items missing from the vehicle.
They then found the dirty wedding dress in nearby Butler Street, then discovered the shocking CCTV footage.
It was going to be used for a wedding shoot.
Joel told Need To Know: “They are sentimental items.
“Especially to the suppliers as they’re all handmade items.
“The wedding attire is currently at the dry cleaners but they’re charging a ridiculous amount
“We somehow managed to rescue the veil but there’s some stains.
“The dresses were booked for other wedding shoots and this break-in potentially stops a lot more business for us.
“When I saw the CCTV, with the woman dragging the dress through puddles, I was absolutely raging.
”I was so angry.”
The van was broken into on 19 March.
Greater Manchester Police has been approached for comment.
