A woman has been in severe pain for six years after claiming surgeons left a catheter inside her body.
Margarita Vilca Romero Sousa underwent surgery after being diagnosed with kidney stones in 2018.
Eight days after being discharged, her doctor told her to come back to get her tubes and drainage bags removed.

After the procedure, she felt a cylinder-shaped lump and mentioned it to the doctor, who said it was just a granuloma.
But she didn’t believe him, so she got some ultrasounds done of her own accord.
It then became apparent that a catheter had been left inside her body.
She went back to show the doctor the results.
However, he reportedly denied having operated on her and pointed the finger of blame at another medic.

Margarita, 58, told local media in Iquitos, Peru: “The more I insisted, the more the doctor who operated on me got annoyed and distanced himself from me.
“He refused to acknowledge his wrongdoing.”
She was furious when her complaint against the surgeons was dismissed, as reported on Need to Know.
Six years have now passed since the operation and Margarita still has no date to get the tube removed.
Ever since the op, she’s had severe pain in her lower back, infections, and even fluid secretion in the area around her right kidney.
She said: “At the insurance company, they told me they would remove the catheter, but there’s no date yet.
“It’s been six years with this object inside my body already.”
