A former actor and singer has been convicted of raping a 16-year-old actress following the #MeToo movement.
Juan Darthés was jailed for six years yesterday (10 Jun).
He sexually attacked actress, writer and activist Thelma Fardin in 2009.
She publicly accused Darthés as the #MeToo movement swept the world in 2018.

Fardin, of Bariloche, south west of Buenos Aires Argentina, was raped in a hotel in Managua, Nicaragua.
Darthés was 45 at the time.
They were both in the cast of the popular children’s TV series ‘Patito Feo’ – which translates as Ugly Duckling – which was on tour there at the time.
She says that on the night in question, Darthés made persistent advances despite her repeatedly telling him “no” and reminding him that his children were her age.
When she went public with her allegations, other Argentine actresses also accused the former actor of abuse.
Darthés, who is now 59, denies the allegations.
After Interpol slapped Darthés with an arrest warrant, he moved to Brazil, as the country does not extradite native Brazilians.
But prosecutors in São Paulo charged Darthés – who is a dual Brazilian-Argentine national – with rape in April 2021.
Darthés and Fardin, now 31, are well known in Argentina, as reported on Need To Know.
The former actor, whose real name is Juan Rafael Pacífico Dabul, was acquitted in May 2023 after the rape case went to trial.
However, Fardin’s lawyers appealed the decision, ending in his conviction by two votes to one.
Under the terms of his sentence, he must only spend nights in prison.
Darthés may appeal the sentence by the court in São Paulo, Brazil.
