A hero road sweeper used his broom to confront a pair of car thieves and send them packing empty-handed.
CCTV footage shows how a driver reverses out of his garage and gets out of his blue VW Golf.
As he goes to lock up, two men sprint across the street and climb into his unlocked hatchback.

When the driver, identified as Daniel, realises what’s going on, he rushes back to his car, but he quickly realises he’s no match for the crooks.
The dodgy duo try to drive away in Villa Adelina near Buenos Aires, Argentina, but they struggle to start the vehicle.
Seconds later, sweeper Walter Meza charges towards the pair with his broom raised.
Through the open window, Walter repeatedly thrusts the broom handle into the driver as he begins reversing.
The would-be car thieves emerge hastily from Daniel’s Golf and start running away.
The culprit in the front passenger seat is then knocked to the tarmac by a reversing car as he tries to flee on Saturday (20 Jul) morning.
Walter, 46, later recalled: “I heard the screams and went over to see what was happening.
“When I saw that Daniel was being pulled out of the car, I ran to help.
“I hit them with the broomstick until the thieves got out of the car.”
One of the wrongdoers was arrested by the police shortly after Walter’s heroics, as reported on Need To Know.
The other is still at large.
