He was rushed to a nearby hospital where he died on 8 September.
An autopsy has been carried out on his body to establish the exact cause of death and a police investigation into the fatal incident is ongoing.
The singer, who came from Naples in Italy, was married to trans woman called Paola Conte, a hairdresser from Caserta.
The couple had tried to adopt a Nigerian girl named Ester, who they fostered for several years, but they were unsuccessful in their application.
Paola suggested at the time that their rejection could have been down to her decision to transition 20 years ago.
She said: “We have so much love to give, why won’t they allow us to adopt little Ester?
“Nobody has given us a reason, could the problem be the path I decided to take so long ago?”
Following her partner’s shock death, Paola said that her “world has fallen apart”.
She stated: “Until the last moment, I hoped it was just a nightmare.
“Because, even seeing him dead, you don’t realise what has happened.
“Instead, it all turned out to be true.”
Carmine’s funeral will take place in Ponticelli in Naples today (11 September), as reported by Need To Know.
