A man has been given a life sentence for killing his girlfriend’s teenage daughter.
Van Henry Brisbon, 62, was convicted of the murder of 16-year-old Lauren Juma, who prosecutors say he was attempting to rape.
Police were called to the Humble, Texas home after the victim FaceTimed her mother and sister to say Brisbon was acting “weird” – only to hear gunshots from inside the house, reports Need To Know.
Harris County district attorney Kim Ogg called him a “predator” and described the killing as “senseless and horrific”.
The victim’s mother was out of town for work at the time of the murder.
After the killing on 29 April 2022, Brisbon reportedly exited the home and was arrested.
