But as they drove him to a hospital, he passed out in the car.
They stopped in front of a fire station and tried to resuscitate him, but their efforts were in vain last Friday (Nov 22).
Mateus leaves behind a wife, parents, and siblings.

His brother Tiago said: “I want to thank the entire team that tried to save his life. They were all very professional and provided all the support.”
According to Tiago, Mateus had no health issues.
He had stopped taking part in bodybuilding competitions but still liked to keep in shape.
He helped coach other high-performance athletes, and he posted videos to social media with exercise tips and motivational content.
In addition, he owned a chain of supplement stores and had founded a nutrition line and a fitness brand.
He was also a trained lawyer, according to reports.
Mateus was laid to rest on Sunday (Nov 24) in Planaltina near Brasília, Brazil, as reported by Need To Know.
Tiago said: “Heaven gained an angel. We are deeply saddened. He was so loved.”
He added: “We’ve received so many kind messages, flowers, and expressions of support.
“We are very Catholic, we believe in eternal life, and we’ll face this together.”
