A 30-year-old woman wanted by Interpol was arrested in a hospital “while she was in the process of giving birth”.
Zaida Rosa López was taken by surprise when immigration and police officers cornered her in the facility.
She had checked into the hospital after experiencing severe abdominal pain caused by her pregnancy.

A snap taken at the scene shows her looking glum in her ward bed as the burly officials surround her.
The Venezuelan, who was subject to an Interpol Red Notice, was seized in Valledupar, Colombia.
A social worker and a doctor were present during the arrest, which was reported by the city police on Wednesday (8 Jan).
The authorities were able to track López down to the hospital thanks to an alert from the Foreigners’ Registration Information System.
She is wanted by the Venezuelan justice system to face charges of fraud and of conspiracy to commit a crime.
She was placed at the disposal of the police, who will carry out procedures to deport her to her home country.
There, she will be hauled before a judge to answer for the charges against her, as reported by Need To Know.
